The Cats Of My Life: One Day Cat

Photo Copyright http://www.bojesphob.com/

That’s what I call the cat in my mind – one day cat. He (or she, I don’t know) was allowed in the house for one day after our cat, who I hadn’t talked about yet, died.

The cat that passed was the one my mother got after Georgie died. She loved the cat and he loved her. But then he was hit by a car. I still remember how upset I was that he was hit – and that my mother decided my coat was the one to wrap him up in as he coughed up blood on the way to the vets office. We thought he was going to live, but alas, he did not.

After he died everyone was distraught. We had only had him for two years, he was so young. Outside was this white cat with a deformed ear that was always friendly. I wanted to keep him – we were now catless anyway. Remembering how my mother woke up every morning with either Georgie or our last cat, she relented.

One Day Cat was sweet – and curled up next to me keeping me warm all night. S/he followed me everywhere in the house and I felt so loved.

The next morning my mother threw the cat back on the street saying that she heard it was a neighbor’s cat and was being looked for. I doubt it, I always saw the kitty on the street.

So then she said the cat was dirty and diseased.

But I liked One Day Cat. I was comforted that night.

Ahhhhh...cats have really a big impact on some people's lives, eh?

My cat also didn't last more than 2 years, I think. And memories of him will always be SO sweet in my mind. ;-D

I am a dog person but have had 2 cats in my life. The first was munchkin a small black and white cat. That was given to my sister in law because I had moved away to school and she gave her away. The other was probrably the smartest cat I have ever known. I had my first apt and Tiger would follow me around. I kept him but had to let him roam since he was a free cat. Some horrible mean person put poison on the ground in the parking lot. Tiger died. I am still more a dog person to this day but do understand the comfort of cats

Yeah Amel - I consider them fuzzy little messengers of God really. Saved my life they did. I haven't even gotten to the most influential kitties, it's a bit raw and tough for me if only because of the ending with her.

Dawn - my mother was a dog person. I think that's why I'm not the biggest fan. Plus, I don't like blind devotion. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to Tiger! People just are so cruel at times.

If I did get a dog, I love the little ones like the Manchester Terrier down the street or big ones Like Newfoundlands.

I love cats. I had a three legged one who was mine for 15 years. She saw me through the toughest years of my life. She was my protector, my friend, my confidant.
Something died inside me when I lost her, and I blame myself for her death to this day.

I carry that guilt with me....

Ah, yeah, especially for you they mean SO MUCH more. Yeah, I understand that it's hard for you to talk about the most influential ones.

Anyways, now I understand even more why God created them. THX for opening my eyes!!! ;-D

Pets really do become part of our family. It's heartbreaking to lose them.

I'm a cat person. My baby, "Weenie" died a few years ago. Every now and then I think I spy him as a little black shadow out of the corner of my eye.

Goddess' had to have her cat PTS last Tuesday.
